Kerrville is located in the beautiful Texas hill Country, high on the Edwards Plateau overlooking the Guadalupe River valley. Situated between San Antonio and Austin, it is the market and cultural center for an area with a total population of around forty thousand, about half being within the city limits. With its outstanding climate, often called the best in the world, Kerrville has long attracted tourists and retirees.

Although it is a comparatively small city, Kerrville has an outstanding array of recreational and cultural opportunities.

  • Recreation: There are three outstanding golf courses, beautiful parks, good hunting, fishing and hiking nearby, and several excellent health and fitness facilities.

  • Performing Arts: The Cailloux Center for the Performing Arts attracts world class music and theater presentations as well as providing resources for local talent including a symphony orchestra, a choral society and a theatrical group.  Live performances are also staged at the nearby Hill Country Arts Foundation on the banks of the Guadalupe River.

  • Education: Students and faculty of Schreiner University contribute an additional dimension to this cultural milieu.  There is also an extensive adult-education program run by the local school system as well as a very active senior center with a wide variety of activities and programs.

  • Arts: The Kerrville/Ingram area has long been a haven for artists. The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center and Hill Country Arts Foundation  offer gallery space for exhibits of both local and regional artists, as well as providing classes for all levels of ability. There are numerous galleries in Kerrville/Ingram as well as nearby Fredericksburg, many exhibiting the works of nationally recognized artists.

  • Health Care: The city provides excellent health care by physicians representing every major medical specialty, plus a well-integrated referral system with the outstanding San Antonio medical community. Sid Peterson Hospital has been nationally recognized for its quality of care and is in the process of building a new facility which will further enhance its services.

  • Churches: Churches are an important part of life in Kerrville and every major denomination is represented. There is a wonderful spirit of co-operation among the churches in supporting such community endeavors as Christian Assistance Ministry, Raphael Free Clinic, Red Cross, Salvation Army, and several programs for youth with special needs including mentoring programs. All of these offer many volunteer opportunities.

  • Adult community:  Restricted to age 55 and older.

  • Prices: Individual units are priced from approximately $135,000.

Living the Highlander lifestyle means that there is time to participate in all that Kerrville has to offer.  It also gives residents the freedom to travel for short or extended periods of time, secure in the knowledge that their homes will be cared for while they are gone, and that a warm welcome from friends and neighbors awaits them on their return.
