
Kerrville is located in the beautiful
Texas hill Country, high on the Edwards Plateau overlooking the Guadalupe River
valley. Situated between San Antonio and Austin, it is the market and cultural
center for an area with a total population of around forty thousand, about
half being within the city limits. With its outstanding climate, often
called the best in the world, Kerrville has long attracted tourists and retirees.
Although it is a comparatively small
city, Kerrville has an outstanding array of recreational and cultural

with a wide variety of activities and programs.

The Kerrville/Ingram area has long been
a haven for artists. The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center and Hill Country Arts
Foundation offer gallery space for exhibits of both local and regional artists, as well as providing classes for all levels of ability. There are numerous
galleries in Kerrville/Ingram as well as nearby Fredericksburg, many exhibiting
the works of nationally recognized artists.

The city provides excellent health care
by physicians representing every major medical specialty, plus a well-integrated
referral system with the outstanding San Antonio medical community. Sid Peterson Hospital
has been nationally recognized for its quality of care and is in the process of
building a new facility which will further enhance its services.

Churches: Churches are an important part of life
in Kerrville and every major denomination is represented. There is a wonderful
spirit of co-operation among the churches in supporting such community endeavors
as Christian Assistance Ministry, Raphael Free Clinic, Red Cross, Salvation
Army, and several programs for youth with special needs including mentoring
programs. All of these offer many volunteer opportunities.
